W&L Men's Soccer Holds Off Hampden-Sydney, 1-0

LEXINGTON, VA.. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team won its fifth straight game by defeating Hampden-Sydney on Thursday afternoon, 1-0.

W&L (6-1-1, 5-0 ODAC) scored 17:52 into the game as senior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) tallied his third goal of the season. Senior midfielder Rick Schnatz (Darnestown, Md./Quince Orchard) recorded the assist as he sent in a cross from the right sideline.

Senior goalkeeper Brad Hearn (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) made six saves for W&L to earn his second shutout of the season. Hampden-Sydney junior goalkeeper Austin Krison (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) made four saves.

The Tigers outshot the Generals, 12-8.

W&L returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Roanoke at 11:00 am. The Maroons enter the contest as the 15th-ranked team in Division III.
