BRIDGEWATER, Va.- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team clinched the number one seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament with a 3-1 victory at Bridgewater on Thursday afternoon.
The Generals (10-3-1, 8-1 ODAC) jumped on the board first as sophomore forward Bret Grote (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) scored off an assist from junior defender Paul Negron (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) in the first half.
W&L tacked on two more goals in the second half as senior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky/Henry Clay) and sophomore midfielder Jacob Stoehr (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) scored goals to make it 3-0 in favor of the Generals.
Bridgewater (4-11, 0-9 ODAC) scored its goal late in the second half.
W&L junior goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) made four saves to earn the victory.
The Generals return to action when they host Guilford in an ODAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday at 11:30 am.
