W&L Men's Soccer Defeats Eastern Mennonite, 2-0

LEXINGTON, VA. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team used one goal in each half to defeat Eastern Mennonite, 2-0, on the Liberty Hall Fields on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore midfielder Jacob Stoehr (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) tallied his team-leading seventh goal of the season with 27:55 gone by off an assist from sophomore forward Bret Grote (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny). For Grote, it was his team-leading fifth assist this season.

The Generals (9-2-1, 7-1 ODAC) took a 2-0 lead at the 68:11 mark as Grote scored off assists from Stoehr and senior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay). Stoehr began the play by sending a cross from the left-corner that Grimes headed right to Grote who blasted home the shot.

W&L junior goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) made four saves to earn the shoutout. Eastern Mennonite (8-9, 3-5 ODAC) junior goalkeeper Ayo Patterson (Elkins Park, Pa./Christopher Dock) made five saves on the afternoon.

W&L returns to action when it travels to St. Mary's (Md.) for a match on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
