W&L Falls To Carnegie Mellon In Double Overtime, 1-0

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Carnegie Mellon sophomore midfielder Merry McConnochie (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) scored with 1:49 to play in double overtime to lead the Tartans to a 1-0 victory over Washington and Lee in women's soccer action on the Liberty Hall Fields Saturday afternoon.

Both teams had several scoring opportunities, but were done in by stellar play from both goalkeepers.

W&L (9-3) freshman goalkeeper Abigail Pfeffer (Essex, Conn.Portsmouth Abbey) made 14 saves on the afternoon. Carnegie Mellon (8-2-1) junior keeper Maya Nigrosh (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) made nine saves.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Guilford for a match at 4:00 pm
