Guilford's Hot Shooting Defeats Generals, 89-51

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Despite a 26-point, seven-rebound performance by junior forward Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial), Washington and Lee dropped a 89-51 decision to Guilford in ODAC women's basketball action in Greensboro, N.C., on Wednesday evening.

Guilford (13-4, 11-2) built a 40-23 halftime lead, forcing 18 W&L turnovers. Erin Beacham scored 11 of her 13 points to lead the Quakers in the first stanza.

In the second half, Jennie Keichline scored 14 of her game-high 16 points and GC shot 61.1 percent to seal the victory.

W&L (6-12, 4-10) was led by Mentz and junior center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), who tallied 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.

Washington and Lee will take a week off before hosting Eastern Mennonite next Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 7:00 pm in the Warner Center.
