NORFOLK, Va. -- Va. Wesleyan used a 10-0 run in the game's final 2:34 to defeat Washington and Lee, 70-57, in ODAC men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon in Norfolk, Va.
The Generals trailed 60-57 at the time, but the Blue Marlins iced the game, hitting 8-of-9 attempts from the free throw line to preserve the 13-point victory.
Senior guard Chad Braley (Huntington, W.Va./Paul Blazer) led Washington and Lee with 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Sophomore guard Will Cotter (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and freshman center David Bode (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) each tallied 10 markers.
VWC placed five players in double digits led by James Wallace, who accumulated 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Ron Yuhasz and Josh Fisher each added 13 points and seven boards for the Blue Marlins.
The Generals were outrebounded by Va. Wesleyan, 36-20, but committed a season-low 14 turnovers.
W&L will return home on Wednesday, Jan. 24, as it hosts Emory & Henry in a 7:00 pm contest.
