LEXINGTON, Va. -- Kelly Smith scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added five steals and four assists to lead Emory & Henry to a 63-38 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Va.
W&L (5-6, 4-4) trailed 19-18 at the half before the Wasps took control of the game with a 13-2 run over the first 5:17 of the second half and cruised to the 25-point victory.
The Generals were led by junior center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), who scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high 12 boards. Junior forward Sarah Schmidt (Topeka, Kan./Hayden) added 11 points and five rebounds.
Emory & Henry (10-2, 7-1) was led by Smith and Erin Connelly who tallied 12 points and eight rebounds. The Wasps shot 34.4 percent (21-of-61), while holding W&L to 30.2 percent (13-of-43).
Washington and Lee was outrebounded 41-30, including a 15-2 advantage for E&H in offensive rebounds.
W&L will travel to Lynchburg, Va., to take on Lynchburg on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.
