LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior forward Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to lead Washington and Lee to a 56-39 victory over Randolph-Macon Woman's College in ODAC women's basketball action on Thursday evening in Lexington, Va.
W&L (5-5, 4-3) outscored the WildCats 32-14 in the second half to offset a sluggish first half in which the Generals trailed RMWC, 25-24.
Freshman guard Heather Coleman (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) led W&L on a 20-4 run over the game's final 8:08. She finished the game with eight points and and six rebounds.
Mentz tallied her 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 8-of-8 from the foul line. She also added four assists and three steals.
The WildCats (1-9, 0-8) were led by sophomore guard Meg Hancock (Richmond, Ky./Madison Central), who collected nine points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists.
W&L will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 13, as it hosts Emory & Henry in an ODAC matchup at 4:00 pm.
