W&L Men's Soccer Defeats Lynchburg, 5-1

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee moved to 7-0 for the first time in school history with a 5-1 victory over Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon in ODAC men's soccer action.

The win also set a school record for consecutive wins in a season with seven.

W&L (7-0, 4-0 ODAC) was led by sophomore midfielder Garreth Winstead (Albuquerque, N.M./St Pius X), who scored his first two collegiate goals. Senior forward Andy Crawford (Durham, N.C./Durham Academy) also notched a goal and an assist, while freshman midfielder Philip Miller (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) and sophomore forward Brad Murphy (Mantoloking, N.J/Christian Brothers Academy) also found the net for Washington and Lee.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) recorded his second consecutive win by stopping two shots.

The Generals outshot Lynchburg, 19-5.

W&L will travel to Roanoke, Va., on Wednesday to take on Roanoke in a battle of the only remaining undefeated teams in the ODAC. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
