Generals Women's Soccer Defeats Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1

NORFOLK, Va. -- Freshman forward Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, D.C./The Potomac School) scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute as Washington and Lee rallied to defeat Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1, in ODAC women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

W&L (5-4, 4-3 ODAC) scored both goals in the second half to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Melanie Braswell started the scoring for Virginia Wesleyan (4-5, 4-2 ODAC) at the 41:14 mark. Sophomore fullback Lindsey Duran (Colleyville, Texas/Fort Worth Country Day) tied the contest with her third goal of the season at the 72:08 mark. Marcoux ended the scoring with her goal just over four minutes later.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) picked up her fifth victory of the season by making nine saves.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday as they host Emory & Henry in an ODAC contest at 4:00 pm.
