LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved to 5-2 overall with a 15-6, 15-2, 15-8, win over Southern Virginia on Thursday evening in Lexington.
The Generals were paced by sophomore outside hitter Stacey Kimmel (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights), who totaled eight kills and five digs. Junior middle blocker Lindsay Ruckert (Metairie, La./Sacred Heart) notched seven kills, four aces and nine digs, while senior setter Pam Saulsbury (Ridgely, Md./North Caroline) amassed a team-high 13 assists. Junior middle blocker Leslie Fischbeck (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) had a team-best four blocks.
The loss dropped Southern Virginia to 4-6 overall.
Washington and Lee will be in action again on Saturday as it plays host to Bridgewater College. The match is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
