W&L Men's Soccer Defeats Ferrum, 3-0

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee used two first half goals to cruise to a 3-0 non-conference victory over Ferrum on Wednesday afternoon in men's soccer.

Senior captain Jon Wilson (Newport News, Va./Hampton Roads) scored at the 15:46 mark off an assist from junior midfielder David Kodack (Branchburg, N.J/Somerville) to give the Generals a 1-0 lead.

Junior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) took a feed from freshman midfielder Philip Miller (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) and notched his sixth goal of the season at the 23:23 mark to push the lead to 2-0.

Sophomore forward Brad Murphy (Mantoloking, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) stole the ball from goalkeeper Rod Baker (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) and fired home the final goal for W&L in the 81st minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brad Hearn (Raleigh, N.C/Broughton) collected his second straight shutout for Washington and Lee by posting one save. W&L outshot the Panthers 20-2.

W&L will play host to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
