W&L Downs R-MWC For Third Time This Season, 64-39

LEXINGTON Va. -- Washington and Lee stormed to a 34-19 halftime lead en route to a 64-39 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lexington, Va., on Tuesday evening. The win was the third of the season for the Generals against the Wildcats.

W&L, now 10-7 overall and 7-6 in the ODAC, was led by sophomore center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), who tallied team-highs in points (12), rebounds (8), and blocks (3). The Generals placed only one other player in double figures, as sophomore guard Carter Thomas (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) tallied 11 points. Sophomore forward Sarah Schmidt (Topeka, Kan./Hayden) added nine points and four rebounds.

Randolph-Macon Woman's College (1-15, 1-13 ODAC) was led by senior center Tara Carleton, who connected on 11-of-16 shots for a game-high 24 points. Carleton and freshman forward Melissa Wadford led the Wildcats with seven rebounds apiece.

Washington and Lee shot 47.2 percent from the field during the game, while holding the Wildcats to just 33.3 percent. The teams combined to commit 60 turnovers in the contest.

W&L will return to action on Thursday, February 3rd, when it plays host to ODAC-leader Bridgewater College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
