W&L Women's Basketball Defeats Randolph-Macon Woman's, 80-47

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Junior forward Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) scored a game-high 32 points and claimed a game-high 15 rebounds to lead Washington and Lee to an 80-47 win over Randolph-Macon Woman's College in ODAC women's basketball action on Wednesday evening.

Mentz, who was 14-of-22 from the field, scored 25 first-half points, helping the Generals (3-3, 2-1) to a 37-17 halftime lead.

Mentz was joined in double figures by freshman forward Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy), who scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out six assists and claimed four steals. Junior center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) added 11 points and eight rebounds.

RWMC (1-5, 0-4) was paced by Amy Dameron's 15-point, 11-rebound performance. Meg Hancock added 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting.

Washington and Lee will be in action again on Jan. 5 when it travels to Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 pm contest.
