LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior forward Kyle Williford (Raleigh, N.C/Leesville Road) scored a game-high 21 points to help lead Bridgewater to a 56-53 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC menÕs basketball action on Wednesday evening.
The Generals (0-8, 0-3) trailed the game from start to finish, but were down by no more than 10 points (32-22) the entire game. Senior guard Chad Braley (Huntington, W.Va./Paul Blazer) had a potential game-tying three-pointer with just two seconds remaining, but the shot would not fall.
Bridgewater (7-0, 2-0) senior forward Shane Burnette (Richmond, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) tallied 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and was joined in double-figures by senior forward Jermaine Reed (Richmond, Va./Lloyd C. Bird), who totaled 11 points.
Washington and Lee (0-8, 0-3) was led by junior forward Bob Bustamante (Miami, Fla./Christopher Columbus), who scored 13 points. Sophomore forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon) scored 10 points, while sophomore guard Will Cotter (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) notched 10 points and five assists.
Washington and Lee will be in action again on Jan. 3 as it travels to Greensboro, N.C., to take on Guilford. Gametime is set for 7:00 pm.
