LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) headed home the game-winner with 1:29 to play in regulation off a corner kick from senior midfielder Jon Wilson (Virginia Beach, Va./Hampton Roads) to lift host Washington and Lee to a 2-1 victory over fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon in the ODAC Men's Soccer semifinals.
The win moves W&L (17-1) into the ODAC tournament finals Saturday afternoon against third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan. Game time is set for 1:30 pm.
Randolph-Macon (13-6-1) started the scoring at the 13:35 mark with a penalty kick goal from senior forward Scott Eley (Petersburg, Va./Prince George). The penalty kick was set up after freshman forward Andrew Beazley (Studley, Va./Atlee) was brought down by a W&L defender in the box.
The Generals tied the game at the 43:13 mark with a goal by freshman midfielder Philip Miller (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood).
Sophomore goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) made five saves for the Generals, while junior goalkeeper Michael Matson (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) also collected five saves for the Yellow Jackets.
