LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior guard Paris Butler (West Springfield, Va./West Springfield) tied a Roanoke record by hitting six three-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points in leading the Maroons to a 90-59 win over Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center.
Leading 34-28 with 1:05 left in the first half, Roanoke surged on a 19-2 run over the next 5:33 to take a commanding 55-30 lead with 14:32 remaining. They would cruise from there to the win.
Junior forward Jason Strickland (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant) scored 18 points and junior guard Brad Dunleavy (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) added 11 points to lead the Maroons (10-1, 5-0).
W&L (3-5, 3-3) was led by sophomore forward Bob Bustamante (Miami, Fla./Christopher Columbus), who scored 16 points. Freshman guard Scott Hetterman (Falls Church, Va./Landon School) scored a career-high 10 points and claimed seven rebounds.
Washington and Lee will return to the court on Sunday as it hosts Greensboro College in non-conference contest at 3:00 pm.
