WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior Chad Casto (Buckhannon, W.Va./Buckhannon Upshur), and juniors Josh Chamberlain (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and John Sensing (Hockessin, Del./Tatnall) each tallied 3-0 records in leading the Washington and Lee wrestling team to a 1-2 record at the Western Maryland Quadrangular on Saturday evening in Westminster, Md.
W&L (3-3, 2-2 Centennial) began the evening with a narrow 21-16 loss to Ursinus College. The Generals quickly rebounded, however, claiming a decisive 42-6 victory over Swarthmore. The match was highlighted by pin by Sensing in the 285-pound classification. Following the win over Swarthmore, W&L suffered a 27-12 loss to the host Green Terror.
Other Generals claiming victories in contested matches were junior Greg Valentine (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills), sophomore Ezra Morse (Central Point, Ore./Crater), and freshmen John Polena (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and Ericson Davis (Clemmons, N.C./North Davidson).
