ASHLAND, Va. -- Randolph-Macon broke a 51-51 tie with 4:31 remaining in the game and never allowed W&L to score again, in posting a 64-51 win over the Generals in Ashland, Va.
The Yellow Jackets held W&L to just 28 percent shooting for the game and forced 24 Generals' turnovers.
Beth Richard led the Yellow Jackets (10-6, 9-3) with 12 points, including nine of the team's final 15 points. Renee Zando and Meredith Roberts each tallied 10 points, with Zando also blocking five shots.
Washington and Lee (7-6, 5-5) was led by sophomore forward Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial), who scored 15 points and senior guard Jessica Morton (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill), who scored 12 points. Sophomore center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Generals will be in action again on Sunday as they travel to Villa Julie College for a 2:00 pm contest.
