EMORY, Va. -- Emory and Henry outscored Washington and Lee 10-2 over the final two minutes of regulation, in claiming a 67-59 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday evening in Emory, Va.
The Wasps (5-9, 3-5 ODAC) were led by senior guard Patrick Bailey, who tallied a game-high 23 points, including four three-pointers. Recording a double-double for E&H was center David McManus, who notched 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. The Wasps shot only 38 percent from the floor in the contest, but were bolstered by hitting 13-of-16 from the charity stripe, including 11-of-12 in the second half.
W&L (5-8, 4-6 ODAC) placed only one player in double-figures. Junior guard Chad Braley came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points. Toussaint Crawford and Walt Plyler each chipped in nine points to aid the Generals' cause. W&L committed 19 turnovers in the contest, and connected on only 17-of-28 free throws. The Generals did win the battle of the boards, however, outrebounding the Wasps by a count of 39-38. Brian Ricketts grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
W&L will return to action on January 22, when it travels to Harrisonburg, Va., to take on the Royals of Eastern Mennonite. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm.
