NORFOLK, Va.. -- Tim Petrillo poured in a game-high 23 points and five assists in leading the Blue Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan to a 76-69 win over the Washington and Lee men's basketball team in Norfolk, Va. The loss was the second consecutive ODAC defeat handed to the Generals.
The Blue Marlins (5-9, 3-6 ODAC) connected on 8-of 20 three-pointers during the contest. Other Va. Wesleyan players tallying double figures in points were McKinley Ford with 12, James Wallace with 11, and Ron Yuhasz with 10. Yuhasz also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Generals (5-7, 4-5 ODAC) were led by senior center Brian Ricketts who tallied 15 points and five rebounds in the loss. Other W&L players making significant contributions included freshmen Toussaint Crawford (14 points) and Will Cotter with 12. Will Ballard and Scott Hudson each tallied 10 points, while Hudson snagged a team-high six rebounds. On the afternoon, W&L shot 42 percent from the floor and committed a season-low nine turnovers.
W&L will return to action on January 19, when it travels to Emory, Va., to take on the Wasps of Emory & Henry. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
