Randolph-Macon Downs W&L in Basketball, 80-64

ASHLAND, Va.. -- Jamie Rice poured in 25 points to help lead Randolph-Macon College to an 80-64 win over the Generals of Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon in Ashland.

Rice connected on 8-of-11 shots from the floor en route to his game-high point total. He also hit eight-of-eight from the line in the win. Other Yellow Jackets scoring in double-figures included Mike LaGuardia with 19, and Jared Mills with 10. For the game, R-MC (7-6, 4-3 ODAC) shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 90.5 percent from the charity stripe.

The Generals (5-6, 4-4 ODAC) were led by senior center Brian Ricketts who tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. Ricketts was aided by Will Ballard with 14 points and Scott Hudson with 10 points and seven rebounds. W&L suffered the entire game from cold shooting, ending the contest at only 28.6 percent from the floor. The Generals hit only 3-of-23 from behind the three-point arc.

W&L will return to action tomorrow, January 16th, when it travels to Norfolk, Va., to take on the Blue Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
