W&L Women Lose To N.C. Wesleyan In Soccer

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Washington and Lee suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday by a score of 3-0 at the hands of North Carolina Wesleyan.

The Battlin' Bishops (5-1-3) opened the scoring just 4:28 into the match when freshman midfielder Caitlin Sanderson scored off an assist from senior forward Alexa Kapetanakis. The Generals (5-2) were able to remain within one goal for the rest of the first half, thanks in large part to senior goalkeeper Stephanie McKnight (Frederick, Md./Frederick) who registered 11 saves during the match.

Wesleyan scored again just 1:30 into the second half. Kapetanakis scored on an assist from senior midfielder Betsy Jones. Jones then tallied the final goal exactly 11 minutes later. On the day, Wesleyan outshot W&L 20-4.

The Generals return to action tomorrow against Methodist College. The game will be played at North Carolina Wesleyan at 3:00 pm.
