LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team outshot Randolph-Macon Woman's College 35-1 en route to a 4-1 victory Sunday in Lexington.
W&L (4-1, 3-0 ODAC) scored its first goal just 2:05 into the match. Freshman midfielder Ruth-Hill Yeilding (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) tallied the goal when she intercepted a goal kick and chipped the ball over the outstretched arms of RMWC (2-3, 1-2 ODAC) goalkeeper Jessica Maddox. The Generals later scored the game winner on a free kick by junior midfielder Shana Levine (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) from 40 yards out at the 31:45 mark.
The Generals' final two goals were scored by freshman midfielder Jenny Thomas (High Point, N.C./Central) and junior midfielder Kate Bidwell (Pensacola, Fla./Escambia).
Washington and Lee will return to action on Tuesday, September 22, against Eastern Mennonite. Gametime is set for 4:00 pm in Harrisonburg.
