LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team defeated Lynchburg, 15-13, 15-8, 15-9, in the ODAC opener for both teams on Wednesday evening at the Warner Center.
The Generals (4-1, 1-0), winners of each of their last 14 conference matches dating back to the 1997 season, were led by senior outside hitter Nancy ReinhartÕs (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) 12 kills and 16 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Lindsay Ruckert (Metairie, La./Sacred Heart) tallied 12 kills and 11 digs, while junior setter Katherine Kline (Potomac, Md./Holton-Arms) amassed a team-high 19 assists.
Lynchburg (5-2, 0-1) was paced by senior outside hitter Laura McNear (Washington, Va./Mercersburg), who totaled seven kills, and junior defensive specialist Leah Leavens (Roanoke, Va./William Byrd), who totaled seven digs. Junior setter Erin Sheetz (Roanoke, Va./Northside) tallied 19 assists.
W&L will return to action on Friday when it travels to Hollins University for a 6:30 pm match.
