BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Sophomore forward Will Ballard (Elkin, N.C./Elkin) scored a career-high 21 points, but it wasn't enough as Washington and Lee dropped a 75-61 decision to Bridgewater in the regular season finale for both teams. The loss coupled with a Lynchburg loss to Hampden-Sydney makes the Generals the eighth seed for the ODAC Tournament. They will face No. 1 seed Hampden-Sydney on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
With the game tied at 10-10 with 11:06 remaining in the opening half, Bridgewater (10-14, 6-12) went on a 9-0 run to take a 19-10 lead with 8:19 remaining and it never looked back, posting a 37-25 halftime advantage.
W&L (6-18, 5-13) chipped away and cut the Eagles' lead to six points (62-56) with 2:54 remaining, but the Generals would get no closer.
Freshman center Kyle Williford led Bridgewater with 21 points and 16 rebounds and junior guard Brad Harrington tallied 18 points.
Ballard hit 5-of-7 three-point attempts in posting the career-high and he was followed in the W&L scoring column by junior center Rich Peterson (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull), who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Scott Hudson (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) tied a career-high with 11 rebounds.
