LEXINGTON, Va. -- Trailing by five points (49-44) with 7:57 remaining in the game, Washington and Lee went on a 19-4 run over the next 7:16 to take a 10-point lead (63-53) in posting a 66-59 win over Bridgewater in ODAC men's basketball on Monday evening at the Warner Center.
The Generals (5-13, 4-8) trailed 25-14 with 6:42 remaining in the opening half before surging on a 20-4 run to take a 34-29 lead at halftime. Bridgewater (9-10, 5-8) then went on a 17-10 run of its own to start the second half and produce a five-point le ad setting up the game's decisive run.
The Generals shot 58.3 percent in the first half and 48.9 percent for the game, while the Eagles hit 50 percent in the second half and 44 percent for the game.
W&L had four players score in double-figures led by sophomore forward Will Ballard (Elkin, N.C./Elkin), who scored 14 points. Sophomore guard Chad Braley (Huntington, W.Va./Paul Blazer) tallied 13 points, junior center Rich Peterson (Trumbull, Conn./Trum bull) had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and junior forward Scott Hudson (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) totaled 11 points and four blocks. Peterson has made 15 of his last 16 shots from the floor.
Bridgewater was led by junior forward Brad Harrington (Richmond, Va./Monacan), who netted 15 points and went over 1,000 career points in the process. Freshman center Kyle Williford (Raleigh, N.C./Leesville) had 13 points.
The Generals will be in action again on Wednesday when they host Virginia Wesleyan in a 7:30 pm contest.
