BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Sophomore forward Sarah Hagood scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to help lead Bridgewater past Washington and Lee, 68-55, in ODAC women's basketball on Monday evening.
W&L trailed 34-27 at the break, but climbed back into the game as sophomore center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) hit a jumper with 7:24 remaining to pull the Generals (3-2, 2-1) within four points at 49-45.
However, Bridgewater would pull away after that point, holding the Generals to just five points in the final five minutes to post the 13-point win.
W&L was led by Babst, who scored 17 points, claimed nine rebounds, and blocked one shot. Sophomore forward Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.
Joining Hagood in double-figures for Bridgewater (6-1, 4-0) was Angela Osborn with 13 points, Megan Forster with 11 points, and Amanda Kyger with 10 points.
The Eagles outrebounded W&L, 43-34, and held the Generals to 35.1 shooting for the game.
Washington and Lee will return to the court on Wednesday as it hosts Catholic University of America in a 5:00 pm contest.
