W&L Shuts Out Bridgewater, 2-0, In Women's Soccer

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team raised its ODAC record to 7-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory over Bridgewater College on Saturday in Lexington, Va.

Junior midfielder Lindsay Williams (Atlanta, Ga./Phillips Academy) got the Generals (8-4, 7-1 ODAC) on the scoreboard first with a goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Drew Powers (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) at the 28:29 mark. The game remained 1-0 until W&L senior Stephanie McKnight (Frederick, Md./Frederick) added the clincher for the Generals with only 1:30 left in the match. McKnight, who also played 30 minutes in goal for W&L, scored off a pass from junior midfielder Courtney Nolan (Princeton, N.J./Princeton). McKnight, junior Lauren Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill), and sophomore Kate Mobley (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy) shared the shutout in goal for the Generals.

W&L outshot the Eagles (4-6, 3-5 ODAC) by a count of 25-4 on the match. Bridgewater goalkeeper Julianne Blevins made seven saves on the day.

For its next game, W&L will host conference leading Lynchburg College on Wednesday, October 13. Gametime is set for 4:00 pm.
