LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team recorded its third consecutive ODAC victory on Friday with a 2-1 triumph over Emory & Henry College.
The Generals got on the scoreboard first when senior midfielder Jason Miller (Boone, N.C./Watauga) tallied a goal off an assist from junior back Jacek Mucha (Houston, Texas/AWTY International) just 23:50 into the match. The Wasps (2-11, 0-7) retaliated just 2:02 later, tying the game on a header by Chris Teague. The Generals would not trail for long though, as sophomore forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) drilled a shot past Emory & Henry goalkeeper Josh Hale at the 28:20 mark to give W&L (4-5, 3-2) a 2-1 lead which it would not relinquish.
Freshmen goalies Brad Hearn (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) and Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) were able to hold the Wasps scoreless for the rest of the match to preserve the win for the Generals.
W&L will return to action on Thursday, October 14, when it hosts the Royals of Eastern Mennonite. Gametime is set for 4:00 pm.
