W&L Downed By Roanoke, 3-1

ROANOKE, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team suffered its first ODAC loss of the season by a count of 3-1 to the Maroons of Roanoke College on Wednesday.

Junior midfielder Shana Levine (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) scored what proved to be the only goal of the game for the Generals just 2:59 into the match when she knocked in a free kick from 35 yards out. W&L took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

After the intermission, the Maroons quickly took control of the match, scoring three goals within the first 12 minutes of the second half. The goals were tallied by Andee Moore, Cori Grant, and Courtney Gross. For the game, the Generals outshot Roanoke (8-5, 7-1 ODAC) by a count of 23-8.

Senior Stephanie McKnight (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and junior Lauren Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) split time in goal for the Generals (7-4, 6-1 ODAC).

For its next contest, W&L will host Bridgewater College on Saturday, October 9. Gametime is set for 10:30 am.
