W&L Falls To No. 17 Lynchburg, 2-0

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The No. 4 seeded Washington and Lee women's soccer team ended its season with a 2-0 loss to No. 1 seeded Lynchburg College in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament on Friday in Lynchburg, Va.

Lynchburg (18-1-2) opened the scoring just 1:50 into the contest when Jennifer Clayton headed in a cross from Heather Voss. Neither team was able to tally another goal until with just 1:18 left in the contest. Kerrie Swarts scored the insurance goal for the Hornets off an assist from Kristin Kowit.

For the match, Lynchburg outshot W&L by a count of 17-5. The Hornets also led in corner kicks,10-0. Senior Stephanie McKnight (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and junior Lauren Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) combined to stop seven shots in goal for the Generals. W&L ends its season with a record of 11-7.
