GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Washington and Lee triumphed over Guilford College by a score of 1-0 in men's soccer action on Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.
Sophomore forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) tallied the game-winning goal off of a cross from senior midfielder Scott LeTourneau (Moorestown, N.C./Providence Day) at the 13:00 mark. W&L freshman goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) made the lead stand by stopping six Guilford scoring attempts for the shutout. Guilford goalkeeper John Watson made nine saves to keep his team within striking distance. With the win, the Generals improve to 8-6 overall on the season, 5-3 in the ODAC. The Quakers drop to 7-8 overall, 4-5 in the ODAC.
W&L will play its next match on October 27, at Bridgewater College. The match is set for 3:00 pm.
