W&L Drops To R-MC, 3-2, In Women's Soccer

ASHLAND, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team lost its final regular-season match to the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon by a count of 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.

The Yellow Jackets jumped ahead early with a goal by Cheryl Dickter at the 32:32 mark. W&L tied the score at 1-1 just :57 later when freshman midfielder Jenny Thomas (High Point, N.C./Central), rifled a shot past R-MC goalkeeper Carrie Plunkett. W&L took its only lead of the game 8:45 into the second half when freshman forward Ruth Hill Yeilding (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) tallied off an assist from junior midfielder Shana Levine (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson). The Jackets scored twice within the last 30 minutes to claim the 3-2 victory. W&L drops to 10-6 overall, 8-3 in the ODAC.

W&L will play in the ODAC tournament first-round on Tuesday, October 26. Neither the site of the match nor the opponent have been determined.
