LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Junior back Jacek Mucha (Houston, Texas/AWTY International) scored off a pass from senior forward Jamie Parker (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) at the 86:14 mark to lead Washington and Lee to a 1-0 victory over Lynchburg in ODAC soccer action on Tuesday afternoon.
Both teams played scoreless to that point due mainly to the play of the goalies. Levi Solmose made eight saves on the afternoon for the Hornets and freshman Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) recorded five saves to preserve his third shutout of the season for W&L.
W&L outshot Lynchburg 13-12 and took six corner kicks as opposed to three for the Hornets.
The loss dropped Lynchburg to 11-6 overall, 4-2 in the ODAC. The Generals improved to 6-6 overall, 4-3 in the ODAC.
W&L will return to action again on Thursday when it travels to Ferrum for non-conference match with the Panthers. Gametime is set for 4:00 pm.
