W&L Men's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Loss To EMU

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 loss to Eastern Mennonite on Thursday in Lexington, Va.

The Royals tallied two goals within an eight minute stretch early in the first half to claim the victory. Sophomore midfielder Jon Moyer (Sellersville, Pa./Christopher Dock) notched the first goal on a shot from about 10 yards out at the 16:05 mark. His goal was set up by freshman back Justin Edris (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central). Junior back Jon Wenger (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) scored the insurance goal for the Royals on a header off of a corner kick taken by junior midfielder Bradley Yoder (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite). The second goal was scored with 20:56 remaining in the first half.

For the game, the Royals (5-8, 3-3 ODAC) had seven corner kicks to the Generals' three. Both teams recorded nine shots. Freshman Brad Hearn (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) and junior Jordan Ginsberg (Jackson, Mich./Jackson) split time in goal for the Generals (4-6, 3-3 ODAC).

W&L will return to action on Saturday, October 16, when it hosts the Gophers of Goucher College. Gametime is set for 4:30 pm.
