W&L Drops 1-0 Overtime Loss To #5 Lynchburg

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets raised their ODAC record to 9-0 on the season with a 1-0 overtime victory against Washington and Lee on Wednesday afternoon in Lexington, Va.

Junior forward Kacey Crabbe (Herndon, Va./Herndon) scored the game-winning goal at the 99:44 mark, just under 10 minutes into the first overtime, to extend the Hornets' win streak to nine matches. Crabbe tallied her goal by following a deflected shot taken by freshman midfielder Nikki Wisniewski (Berlin, N.J./Bishop Eustace).

On the game, Lynchburg (15-0-1, 9-0 ODAC) outshot W&L by a count of 18-2. Senior Stephanie McKnight (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and junior Lauren Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) combined for nine saves in goal for the Generals (8-5, 7-2 ODAC). Lynchburg entered the match ranked #5 in the latest NSCAA national poll and #1 in the South Region.

For its next game, W&L will host the College of Notre Dame (Md.) on Saturday, October 16. Gametime is set for 2:00 pm.
