Emory & Henry Avenges Early Season Loss to W&L with a 92-57 Victory

EMORY, Va. -- Emory & Henry shot 53 percent from the floor and outrebounded W&L 42-29 in avenging an early season loss to the Generals, 92-57, in ODAC men's basketball on Wednesday evening.

The Wasps (9-5, 6-2) were led by sophomore guard Brian Pruett (Narrows, Va./Narrows), who scored 24 points and senior forward Donald Thurston (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park), who scored 18 points.

W&L was paced by senior guard Kevin Cobbin's (Jacksonville, Fla./Bolles School) 10 points and sophomore forward Will Ballard's (Elkin, N.C./Elkin) eight points. Junior center Rich Peterson (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) also added eight points for the Genera ls.

The Generals (3-12, 2-7) hit 22-of-28 (.786) free throws in the game, but could not overcome 34 percent shooting from the floor and 24 turnovers that led to 30 Emory & Henry points.

W&L will be in action again on Wed., Jan. 27, when it travels to Hampden-Sydney for a 7:30 pm contest. The Tigers were ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division III heading into this week but suffered a 68-57 loss to Randolph-Macon on Wednesday evening.
