ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -- Washington and Lee (3-11, 2-6 ODAC) let a five-point halftime lead slip away in falling at St. Mary's College (Md.) (7-6) by a score of 81-63 in non-conference men's basketball action on Monday evening.

Backed by sophomore guard Will Ballard's (Elkin, N.C./ Elkin) 17 first half points, the Generals built 36-31 lead at halftime. The Generals were also aided by team three-point shooting that connected on seven of 11 attempts in the first half.

W&L cut the lead to 53-49 with 9:30 left in the game, but the Seahawks made a subsequent 17-2 run to give them a 19-point lead as they rolled to the 18-point victory.

The Generals were led by Ballard, who scored a career high 19 points, including four three-pointers on four attempts. Junior center Scott Hudson (Basking Ridge, N.J./ Ridge) chipped in with 13 points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard Chad Braley (Huntington, W.Va./ Paul Blazer) added 11 points of his own.

St. Mary's was led by Brandon Jones (Millersville, Md./ Cardinal Gibbons), who led all scorers with 21 points.

The Generals will look when to get back on the winning track, when they travel to Emory and Henry for an ODAC encounter that tips-off at 7:30 on Wednesday evening. The Generals defeated the Wasps, 80-70 when the teams met at the Warner Center earlier this season, on Dec. 9.
