ASHLAND, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's basketball team had its season-best two-game winning streak snapped in a 90-62 loss to Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
W&L (4-8, 3-5) trailed 27-14 early on, but came roaring back on a 12-2 run to cut the deficit to just three points at 29-26 before the Yellow Jackets (10-2, 9-0) went on another run to close the half with a 38-33 lead.
Randolph-Macon then shot 61.8 percent in the second half and outscored the Generals 52-29 to post the 28-point win.
W&L was led in scoring by junior guard Jessica Morton (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill), who was 6-for-6 from the free throw line in scoring a team-high 16 points. Freshman center Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) tallied 14 points and gath ered e ight rebounds and freshman guard Alison Kudlacik (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) scored 13 points.
Randolph-Macon was led by the sister tandem of Aimee Beightol and Allison Beightol, who scored 21 and 15 points, respectively.
The Generals will be in action again on Tue., Jan. 19, when they travel to Bridgewater for a 7:00 pm contest with the Eagles.
