CARLISLE, Pa. -- Washington and Lee's men's basketball team (3-8) dropped its fourth game in a row on Monday night, losing a non-conference game at Dickinson College (3-7) by a score of 60-53.
The Generals came back several times throughout the game. With 2:35 left in the first half, they trailed 29-18, but scored the final eight points of the half to cut the Red Devil lead to 29-26 at halftime. The Generals were down 36-28 early in the second half, before going on a 12-2 run that would give them a 40-38 lead with 11:37 to play in the game. Dickinson then went on a 16-9 run to give the Red Devils a 54-49 lead with 3:33 to play and never looked back as they went on to the seven-point victory.
The Generals were led by sophomore guards Will Ballard (Elikin, N.C./ Elkin), who scored 15 points and Chad Braley (Huntington, W.Va./ Paul Blazer) who added 11. Freshman Matt Shaffer led the Red Devils with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The win was Dickinson's first against W&L in five tries. W&L will look for its first win of the new year when it plays at Lynchburg College on Wednesday night. Tip-off will be at 7:30.
