DANVILLE, Ky. -- Wide Receiver Chas Chastain (Athens, Ga./Clarke Central) caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Christian Batcheller (Stuart, Va./Patrick County) with 3:36 remaining to give the Generals a 21-20 win at Centre College.

The Generals (1-2, 0-1) dominated the decisive fourth quarter, controlling the ball for 11:14 and running 31 plays in the period to just 12 for the Colonels (0-3). A major part of W&L's offense during the second half was sophomore running back Marc Watson (Marietta, Ga./Walton), who rushed 14 times for 101 yards in the second half. He finished the game with 110 yards on 19 carries with one touchdown.

Watson also opened the scoring for the Generals in the opening quarter, when he scored on a five-yard scamper with 2:01 remaining to knot the game at 7-7.

After Centre took a 17-7 lead 3:49 into the second half, Batcheller hit senior tight end David Ritchey (McLean, Va./Langley) with a 52-yard touchdown pass just 56 seconds later to bring the Generals within three at 17-14.

Centre would tack on its second field goal of the day, a 29-yarder with 1:59 remaining in the third stanza to produce a 20-14 lead before the Generals took control of the game with their ball control offense.

Batcheller finished the game completing 18-of-30 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns.

The Generals will look for their first conference victory when they host Randolph-Macon on October 3 at 1:30 pm.
