W&L And Emory & Henry Play To 0-0 Tie In Men's Soccer

EMORY, Va. -- The Washington and Lee and Emory & Henry men's soccer teams played 120 minutes of soccer on Thursday afternoon and could not determine a winner as the game ended in a 0-0 tie after two overtimes. It was the first time a W&L game ended in a tie since the 1994 season.

The Generals (1-1-1, 0-1-1) outshot E&H 19-10 in the contest and had two very good scoring opportunities in the final five seconds of the second overtime, but both shots were denied by the E&H (1-5-1, 0-3-1) net minder preserving the deadlock.

Senior goalkeeper E.J. Murphy (Glenside, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) posted four saves in goal for the Generals.

W&L will next be in action when it travels to Goucher College on Sept. 26 for a 1:00 pm contest.
