LEXINGTON, VA -- Washington and Lee's women's soccer team set a school record for most goals scored in a game on Thursday afternoon as they defeated Hollins University, 14-0.
The Generals opened quickly, scoring six goals in the first 18:41 of the game, including three in a span of 1:40. After scoring two goals for the remainder of the first half, the Generals went back to work in the second stanza by scoring six goals in the half's first 14:24.
Junior forward Ginny Jernigan (Orlando, Fla./ Dr. Phillips) tied a Washington and Lee record with four goals in one game. She added two assists, for a total of ten points. Senior forward and all-time leading scorer Karin Treese (Frederick, Md./ Thomas Johnson) added three goals and two assists. Freshman midfielder Kate Bidwell (Pensacola, Fla./ Escambia) notched her first career "hat trick" by scoring the first three goals of her career. In all, eight different Generals scored either a goal or an assist in the game.
The Generals will take their undefeated record to Norfolk, Va. on Saturday afternoon to play Virginia Wesleyan, starting at 2:00.
