LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team improved its overall record to 22-2, 9-0 in the ODAC, by defeating Eastern Mennonite, 9-15, 15-6, 11-15, 15-5, 15-6, on Tuesday evening.
The Generals were led by junior outside hitter Nancy Reinhart (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart), who had 16 kills, three aces, and 23 digs. Reinhart now has 352 digs on the season, just one shy of tying the school record that she set last season. In addition, she has 1,032 digs for her career, just 59 from tying the W&L career mark.
Freshman outside hitter Ricka Hildebrand (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute S. Vigo) had 16 kills and three blocks and sophomore setter Pam Saulsbury (Ridgely, Md./North Caroline) had a team-high 30 assists.
The Generals amassed 13 aces in the contest, lifting their season total to 237, breaking the old single-season record of 225 set during the 1990 season.
With the loss, Eastern Mennonite fell to 7-3 in the ODAC and 12-11 overall.
Washington and Lee will play its final regular-season match of the season on October 31, when it hosts arch-rival Roanoke College in a 12:00 pm match.
