W&L Grounds The Eagles With Fifth Straight Win, 5-0

LEXINGTON, VA -- Senior goalkeeper E.J. Murphy (Glenside, Pa./ Chestnut Hill) tied a Washington and Lee career mark on Tuesday afternoon by collecting his twelfth career shutout, as the W&L men's soccer team defeated Bridgewater, 5-0.

Senior Sam Chase (Marrieta, Ga./ Walton) scored his 49th and 50th goals of his career, in which he already tops the W&L all-time lists in goals and total points. Chase's first goal put the Generals ahead at the 20:12 mark. Eleven minutes later, Chase's classmate, Mikel Parker (Marrieta, Ga./ Walton) scored his second goal of the season to give the Generals a 2-0 lead that they would take to halftime.

Freshman Matt Wilson (Manassas, Va./ Osbourn) scored his third goal of the season at the 56:41 mark to give the Generals a 3-0 lead. Chase then scored the 50th goal of his career at the 68:40 mark. The scoring was then finished off by junior Jamie Parker (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland) at the 73:35 mark with his sixth goal of the season. The Generals have now won five games in a row. They will attempt to tie the longest win streak in W&L history when they play at Denison University on Thursday night at 7:00.
