HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Senior forward Sam Chase scored the only goal that Washington and Lee's men's soccer team (6-2-1, 4-1-1) needed, as it defeated Hampden-Sydney 1-0, handing the Tigers (11-3-1, 4-1-1 ODAC) their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference loss of the year.

Chase's goal came at the 68th minute and was unassisted. Senior goalkeeper E.J. Murphy had seven saves in goal, collecting his third shutout of the season. His next shutout will tie him for the most shutouts in a career at W&L.

The Generals will play for their fifth consecutive win on Tuesday afternoon, when they host Bridgewater College at Liberty Hall Fields. Kick-off will be at 4:00.
