Shamar Brandy serves as the Athletic Services Equipment Manager at Washington and Lee University, where he oversees all aspects of equipment operations for the university’s 24 varsity athletic programs. Since joining W&L in the fall term of 2023, Brandy has played a pivotal role in managing uniform and equipment logistics, supervising full-time staff and ensuring NCAA equipment and operational compliance and safety standards across all teams. His responsibilities also include game-day and practice support, inventory management, vendor coordination, and the administration of equipment budgets and purchasing contracts.
Brandy was nominated and selected to participate in the 2025 Rising Stars Academy, a national leadership program for early-career athletic administrators, hosted by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and affiliate program Minority Opportunties Athletic Association (MOAA).
Brandy arrived in Lexington after completing a summer internship with Vanderbilt University’s athletics department, where he assisted with budget development, expense tracking, and equipment procurement for seven varsity sports. He coordinated directly with coaches, athletes, and vendors to facilitate gear management and helped maintain inventory using spreadsheet-based systems.
Prior to his time at Vanderbilt, Brandy gained hands-on experience as a sports referee at Middle Tennessee State University, officiating basketball, indoor soccer, and softball competition.
Brandy began his journey in athletics as a student worker at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he logged over 400 hours supporting sports events, managing crowd access, and working game operations.
A native of Tennessee, Brandy earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management from Middle Tennessee State University in 2023.
