Josh Gildea joined the W&L men's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach in July 2024.

In his first season with the Generals, Gildea aided in the coaching the team to the program's third national semifinal game in the last four seasons, while winning the program's eighth ODAC Tournament championship. The team shook a 1-3 start to the season by rattling off a program-record 20 consecutive games without a loss before falling against Connecticut College, 1-0, in the national semifinal.

Led by 2024 ODAC Player of the Year and United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American Weyimi Agbeyegbe '25, Gildea helped his players to eight All-ODAC awards and five All-Region citations, with Will Joseph '26 being named the 2024 ODAC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
