James Moeckel joined the Washington and Lee men's tennis coaching staff as an assistant coach on January 12, 2026.
Moeckel has spent recent years in Brazil serving as a private tennis coach, with additional tennis coaching experience with the Gustavo Kuerton Institute in Brazil. He also served with Camp Sunshine in Atlanta, heading tennis activities, after working as an instructor at Florida Gator Tennis Camps in Gainesville, Fla.

Earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Furman University, Moeckel competed on the men's tennis team and was a two-time NCAA Tournament participant. He then went on to play in tournaments in England, as part of the Girobank Tour, against aspiring ATP Tour-level players.
